A prepaid card lets you make payments, withdrawals and transfers without a bank account, completely on your own. Available to everyone with no conditions or commitment, this type of rechargeable card is a practical and secure alternative to a traditional payment card. PCS offers several prepaid card models, each designed for specific needs. Wondering how much a prepaid card costs? Let's go through it together.
Prepaid card prices: what you need to know
The prepaid cards offered by PCS are not linked to any bank account. Just like phone cards you top up with credit, they are sold in supermarkets, tobacconists or online, and all you have to do is activate them to start using them. You then top them up whenever you need to make payments, transfers and withdrawals, within the available balance.
To work out the price of a prepaid card, there are several things to consider. On top of the purchase price of the card, various fees apply:
- Monthly management fees;
- Top-up fees;
- Transaction fees (withdrawals and transfers).
The PCS Chrome card
The PCS Chrome card is a payment and withdrawal card you can use online and in physical stores. It costs €9.90 to buy and is valid for 1 year. The monthly management fee is €2. This range of rechargeable cards also gives you access to deals with some partner merchants (cashback, discounts, etc.).
With the Chrome card, you can top up a maximum of €6,500. Top-up options are as follows (and also apply to all other models):
- By top-up voucher: €750/day (limited to €1,000/month)
- By bank card: €250/day
- By bank transfer: €5,000/day
The PCS Black card
The PCS Black prepaid card costs €14.90 to buy, plus a management fee of €1.50/month. This rechargeable card is valid for 2 years, with a top-up limit of €10,000. It suits anyone who wants to manage their money on their own. It lets you make your everyday purchases and money transfers easily, with no risk of going overdrawn.
As with all PCS prepaid card ranges, top-up fees apply as follows:
- Top-up by voucher: 7% deducted for amounts between €20 and €199; 5% deducted for amounts between €200 and €250
- Top-up by bank transfer: 2% deducted from the amount loaded (and 0% for salary and social benefit payments)
- Top-up by bank card: 4% deducted from the amount loaded
The PCS Virtual Card
This range of PCS cards is a little different: it is entirely dedicated to online transactions. The PCS Virtual Card is fully digital and can only be used on the Internet. It is ideal as an additional means of payment for online shoppers and for fans of online games and betting!
The PCS virtual prepaid card costs €4.90 to buy, with a monthly management fee of €1.50. Of course, as with the other PCS card models, you can lock your rechargeable card at any time if you don't want to use it for a while. In that case, no fees will be charged.
